How to use EyeFly3D comfortably and safely — 3D viewing guidance, age recommendations, and advice on handling and caring for your screen protector.
Please read these precautions before applying your EyeFly3D screen protector or viewing 3D content. They apply to all EyeFly3D and EyeFly3D Pro products.
EyeFly3D creates a glasses-free 3D effect by presenting a slightly different image to each eye. This is how normal depth perception works, but on a screen your eyes focus at one distance while converging at another. Most people adapt within a few minutes. A minority find it tiring, and a small number cannot perceive the 3D effect at all. None of this indicates a fault with the product.
Some people may experience:
If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using the 3D feature immediately and rest your eyes. Do not resume until the symptoms have fully passed, and do not drive, cycle, operate machinery, or perform any activity requiring balance or clear vision until you feel completely normal again.
To reduce the risk of discomfort:
Children’s visual systems are still developing, and children are less likely than adults to report discomfort or to stop viewing when they should.
Difficulty seeing the 3D effect can sometimes reveal an undiagnosed binocular vision problem such as a squint (strabismus) or lazy eye (amblyopia). If a child cannot perceive the effect, or reports that it looks wrong or uncomfortable, this is worth mentioning at their next eye examination. EyeFly3D is not a diagnostic device and must not be used as one.
A very small proportion of people may experience a seizure when exposed to flashing lights, rapidly changing images, or certain visual patterns, whether in 2D or 3D. This can occur in people with no previous history of seizures or epilepsy. Current clinical evidence indicates that stereoscopic 3D content does not carry a greater seizure risk than equivalent 2D content, but the general precaution applies to both.
Stop viewing immediately and consult a doctor if you or anyone viewing experiences:
Consult a doctor before using the 3D feature if you or anyone in your family has a history of epilepsy or photosensitive seizures.
Consult a medical professional before using the 3D feature if you:
If you cannot see the 3D effect clearly, do not strain to force it. Use the product in standard 2D mode and consider an eye examination.
EyeFly3D includes a reinforced tempered glass layer. Handle it as you would any glass product.
If the protector is chipped or cracked, stop using the device immediately. Broken tempered glass can produce sharp fragments capable of cutting skin or injuring the eye. Remove the damaged protector carefully using adhesive tape to lift it — never with bare fingers — and wrap the pieces securely before disposal. A cracked protector will not protect your screen and the 3D effect will be impaired.
General care:
The 3D effect is immersive and reduces your awareness of what is happening around you. Never view 3D content while walking, cycling, driving, crossing a road, using stairs, or in any situation where inattention could cause injury to you or others. Before viewing, make sure you are seated or standing safely, with no fragile objects or other people within arm’s reach.
Discontinue use and seek medical advice if any discomfort continues after you stop viewing, or if symptoms recur each time you use the 3D feature. Persistent visual discomfort should be assessed by an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
This page provides general safety guidance and is not medical advice. It does not replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.
